Khalil Gibran Stamp Project.

The American Committee for Kahlil Gibran Stamp was formed by me in 1987by Mr. Robert Andrews and others.  Almost 20 years later, we are still under consideration by the Postal Service considering the fact that it gets 50,000 subject requests per year and awards only 25 commemorative stamps per year.  Our current target is 2008 which is the 125th anniversary of Gibran's birth.  The stamp committee selects its awardees two years in advance.  Therefore, any efforts you can contribute to this cause in 2006 are very much appreciated.
From Robert S. Andrews, Chairman, American Committee for Khalil Gibran Stamp

In an effort to help this committee we added a page where all you have to do is print it out and get your friends and family to sign it and send it to the committee.  We hope the American-Lebanese clubs and organization will help with this project.  This is a great project to adopt for your club or organization.

Please print the letter and form below, sign it with family and friends.
Mail completed form to the Kalil Gibran Stamp Committee to help issue a commemorative
US postage stamp for Gibran.  Ask others to participate.

Mr. Postmaster General,
Washington, D.C.

We, the undersigned, ask your esteemed postal department to consider seriously the issuance of a United States postage stamp commemorating Kahlil Gibran.    Gibran Kahlil Gibran (1883-1931) artist, poet, philosopher and author, contributed immensely to American and world literature. He remains one of the most renowned literary figures in American history. His various works of poetry and prose have become models of writing excellence for scholars and students around the world. His timeless pieces of literature include: Broken Wings, The Madman, A Tear and a Smile, The Procession, The Tempest and The Prophet, with 8 million copies sold so far and translated into several other languages. We realize that your department receives thousands of similar requests annually. However, we feel the time is ripe to commemorate Kahlil Gibran who has contributed to our American modern heritage and the following signatures are our testimony :
