Features Lebanese Fashion Designer Jean Fares
The Rene Moawad Foundation, USA will hold its 14th Annual Benefit Gala on
Saturday, October 20, 2007 at the Ritz Carlton
Hotel in Pentagon City ,
VA. Since its creation in 1993, RMF-USA has succeeded in assembling a large
number of Americans,
united by a common will of promoting peace and
stability in Lebanon through development. Events have been held in Miami,
Houston and Washingotn. Each event brings together around 400 members of
Lebanese-American community and American
friends of Lebanon . The proceeds of
this year's event will support the many educational programs RMF is undertaking
in
Lebanon thereby giving
Lebanon 's youth a more hopeful and promising future.
H.E. Nayla Moawad, Founder and Honorary President of the Foundation, former
First Lady of Lebanon, and a current Minister
of Social Affairs, will be coming
to the US especially for this occasion. The Foundation will be honoring two very
deserving recipients: Mr. Fuad El-Hibri, Chairman& CEO of Emergent BioSolutions
and the Partnership for Lebanon that was established September 2006 by U.S.
business leaders to assist the reconstruction efforts in Lebanon and to help the
people of Lebanon find
the path to long-term stability and economic growth. The
Partnership's leaders include the CEOs of Microsoft, Cisco Systems,
Intel
Corporation, Ghafari Inc., and Occidental Petroleum. Our evening will also
feature a fashion show by the renowned Lebanese Fashion designer Jean Fares.
RMF-USA was established in 1993 in Washington , DC as a non-profit (501)(c)(3)
US organization with its own independent board in order to expand RMF-Lebanon’s
activities and diversify its sources of funding and support. RMF is a
non-profit, non-governmental, non-political and non-sectarain organization with
a main objective of promoting the social, economic, and rural development of
Lebanon . It was created in Lebanon two years after the assassination of
President René Moawad by his spouse, Nayla Moawad, who is presently Minister of
Social Affairs. The Foundation on the ground, with a field staff over 90 people,
has been doing tremendous development work in the field of agriculture,
education, women’s empowerment, and democratization work, amongst other things.
Funding for RMF’s diverse programs have come from international donors including
EC, EU, USAID, US Department of Labor, NED as well as other private donors. Its

Auxilia-International
www.auxilia-international.org
Auxilia-Lebanon was established in 1993 thanks to the effort of a group of
graduate members of the Dentistry Art Alumni and of the general Practice Alumni
of the Lebanese University.
Auxilia is a Lebanese Non-profit Charitable Organization dedicated to the relief
of orphans, widows, the physically challenged, and the elderly.
Through various humanitarian programs and with the support of a group of sister
organizations, Auxilia strives to make necessary changes in the lives of the
Lebanese children, families and communities.
Auxilia provides relief for those in need through moral and material support.
Orphans are provided with an education and medical attention. Widows are trained
to meet their job opportunities’ requirements enabling them to financially
support themselves and maintain the unity of their families. In return, the
physically challenged and the elderly are supplied with necessary food, medical
care and financial support.
Auxilia gives YOU the opportunity to help thousands of people who are
desperately in need, through either our One-on-One or our Group Direct
Sponsorship program.
Why Auxilia
Due to the deteriorating economic situation in Lebanon, and the tremendous
increase in the number of families looking for help, demands have outgrown the
local capabilities; hence, came our expansion in order to solicit the financial
support of the various communities abroad.
Children are the direct concern and the first beneficiaries of Auxilia. All
supplemental community based programs deliberately and strategically are
dedicated to them and their families.
To learn more about Auxilia please visit their website and see if it is
something you or your club would like
to support. Auxilia has branches in the USA. We wish them
continued success in helping the those in need.

On hope:
From a speech by Vaclav Havel
"I am not an optimist, because I am not sure that everything ends well. Nor am
I a pessimist, because I am not sure that
everything ends badly. I just carry hope in my heart. Hope is a feeling that
life and work have a meaning. You either
have it or you don't, regardless of the state of the world that surrounds you.
Life without hope is an empty, boring and useless life. I cannot imagine that I
could strive for something if I did not
have hope with me. I am thankful to God for this gift. It is as big a gift as
life itself".
