Featured Club- University of Florida
The Lebanese American Society at the University of Florida in Gainesville was
founded in 2002 by an enthusiastic group of Lebanese-American students. The
purpose was to provide an open atmosphere for people interested in learning
about the Lebanese culture, customs, history and language.
Mission Statement
The Lebanese American Society at the University of Florida aims to provide an
open atmosphere for people interested in learning about the Lebanese culture,
customs, history and language. LAS aims also to emphasize the role of the
Americans descending from Lebanese origins in U.S.A. through history.
The club’s main activity is the Lebanese Soiree, a gala dinner and party, that
has become a must-attend event of the University of Florida due to the delicious
Lebanese food and vibrant “Dabke” dance floor.
The club won numerous awards from the Volunteers for International Student
Affairs, the largest student organization in the state of Florida .
In 2001, both the Lebanese American Society and LAS president, Antoine Faddoul,
received an award for Outstanding Service and Invaluable Contributions. In
2006, the Lebanese American Society was awarded the “Best Organization of the
Year” in the University of Florida . In the future, the club plans
to organize the Lebanese Soiree, provide more awareness on Lebanon and provide
more social activities.
