On Leadership - by Colin Powell
A leader must promote hopefulness. Have you ever seen the ripple effect of an enthusiastic and optimistic leader? Have you noticed the impact of cynicism and pessimism? The leader sets the tone. If you have a positive attitude, your team will achieve much more. If you are negative, the team will quickly become demoralized. Be a strong advocate of hopeful thinking! I am talking about a gung-ho attitude that says we can change things, we can change the world to a better place. Share your vision. Share exciting news. Smile and always look at the bright side.

The Atlantic Unveils 100 Most Influential Americans List
Which 100 Americans have had the most influence on our country? That is the question recently tackled by the Atlantic in its December issue. The list is available on the website www.theatlantic.com. In its 150th year of publishing, the countries oldest continuously published magazine challenged 10 award winning historians to determine the 100 most influential figures in American history. This is not meant to be a final list but a start of a debate as the Atlantic invites you to nominate your own choice as well.
Presidents, religious leaders, inventors and authors ruled the list. The list began with George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Native born comprised the majority of the list with ony 7 of 100 who were born outside the USA. One name that made the list is Mr. Ralp Nader, who should be familiar to our readers as he is of Lebanese heritage. You can visit the link above to read more about this article or to enter your own nomination.

| ALNM starts a new chapter in California Sent: Wednesday, November 15, 2006 Contact: Aref Mneimni Ph: (713) 589-4440 Email: pio@alnm.net The American Lebanese National Mission (ALNM) is pleased to announce that it is in the final stages of creating a Chapter in Los Angeles , California . ALNM is an independent, civic, and charitable association with no political or religious character. “Over the last two years, with the never ending increased tension and turmoil in Lebanon, ALNM has found a growing number of Lebanese men and women who have grave concerns about the direction of our country,” reported Dr. Hamid Kantara, ALNM Chairman. “ALNM has also found that these men and women are very interested in working for Lebanon , just not for one specific politician or another. ALNM has worked very hard to create a forum of unity for those who desire and are willing to learn from our history and rise above the political divisions that continue to tear our country apart.” ALNM respects and interacts with government officials, party leaders and institutions that value and promote a free, democratic and safe environment for our families. ALNM believes it is our responsibility to work with legislators to help them gain a better appreciation for our concerns and needs as citizens so they can factor those concerns in their daily decision making process. We hope and call on all Lebanese men and women worldwide who are still sitting on the sideline to get motivated and become more active in reaching out to and supporting the legislators and government officials working to secure the most basic rights for the citizens of Lebanon . For more information on the Los Angeles Chapter, email LosAngeles@alnm.net ; or to find out how you can start an ALNM chapter in your area, contact Dr. Hamid Kantara, ALNM Chairman, at chairman@alnm.net. | |

Touching words
As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever
let you down probably will.
You will have your heart broken probably more than once and it's harder every
time.
You'll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken.
You'll fight with your best friend. You'll blame a new love for things an old
one did.
You'll cry because time is passing too fast, and you'll eventually lose
someone you love.
So take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you've never been
hurt
because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you'll
never get back.
Don't be afraid that your life will end, be afraid that it will never begin.
