Featured Site- www.phoenician.org
A special article for www.cedars1.com - Thank you Mr. Holst
The Phoenician Experience website is an outgrowth of the thirty years I have spent researching the Phoenician people who are the cultural and in some cases physical ancestors of Lebanese people today.
One of the reasons why these ancient people are so fascinating is that they were a truly peaceful people who were very prosperous and highly influential all across the known world. Some of the information I have collected is shown on the website ( www.phoenician.org ) and the rest will be presented in academic papers and books.
For example, did you know that ancient Lebanon never had an army? Their daughter city of Carthage certainly did. But in Lebanon there was nothing beyond local guards to keep peace in the cities. They mounted no military attacks against others. Instead they defended themselves strongly by using peaceful and economic means. The million people who recently marched in the streets of Beirut showed very much a continuation of the ancient Lebanese practice of accomplishing peaceful change.
I currently live in California, and am writing a
book on early Lebanese history. People who share this love of Lebanese heritage
are welcome to email me:
